Trim 1-12 Ratoath 0-14

Trim qualified for the Under 21 hurling championship final with this hard fought win over Ratoath in Dunganny. The club have already won the Under 21 A FC title.

The winners were behind for most of this game and trailed Ratoath by 0-5 to 0-11 at half time. Ten of Ratoaths scores in the first half came from placed balls. The Trim lads knuckled down from the start of the second half and it was plain to see that they were more disciplined in the way they tackling and as a result Ratoat were not getting the scores from play.

The boys in red had then to work hard to maintain this lead but Ratoath received a thirty meter free in the 60th minute which they scored. The sides remained level and the ref played seven minutes of injury time and it was in that seventh minute that Trim captain James Toher scored the winning score from a long range free which was 110 yards out.

On a day when Trim played poorly for long parts of the game but had a few players that never gave up and kept them in the game when their backs were to the wall. None more so that Number 6 David Foley who gave an outstanding display of strong committed hurling throughout the 67 minutes played. He was well supported at the back by Colm McGrath and James Cullen. Up front the star man Was Aaron Winters whose goal in the 50th minute gave Trim the platform for victory.
