U21 B: Third time lucky for Dunderry

November 09, 2014

All eyes on the ball as Adrian Maguire (Longwood) and Dunderry's Cathal Ryan try to gain possession during the Under 21 B hurling championship final at Trim.

Having lost the previous two finals at this grade Dunderry finally came good to land the Meath Under 21 B Hurling Championship title in dramatic fashion at Lomans Park Trim.

Dunderry 1-14 Longwood 2-10

The opening half was a very close affair. A Ryan Keenan goal gave Longwood a 1-5 to 0-7 interval lead. Midfielder Luke Martyn accounted for 5 of Dunderry's first half scores.

Dunderry looked to have this game in the bag after 20 minutes. A scoring burst that yielded 1-5 between the 10 and 20th minute opened up a 1-13 to 1-6 gap. Sean Moran got the goal. But Longwood battled back and with time almost up Damien Healy levelled matters with a goal. Dundery were not to be denied though and with the last play of the game corner foward Alex Walsh sent over the winner.
