Summerhill got their bid for a first MFC Division 1 title in nine years off to a winning start against Donaghmore/Ashbourne in Summerhill on Saturday evening.

Summerhill were only two points up at half-time, 0-6 to 0-4. After the break, 15-year-old Conor Frayne bagged the home side's only goal.

Five Summerhill players got on the score-sheet with Conor Lyons finishing as top-scorer with a total of eight points.
