Donaghmore Ashbourne's Stephen Carton

Donaghmore Ashbourne 7-10
Summerhill 1-11

Donaghmore Ashbourne reached the final of the U17 Division 1 league with a strong performance against Summerhill on Tuesday night.

It was Summerhill who got off to a flying start with three quick points in three minutes. Donaghmore Ashbourne opened their account on the seventh minute with a point from Donagh O Donnell. This was followed on the nineth minute by a classic poachers goal from Stephen Carton. It was then that O Donnell came alive with three superb goals on the 22nd, 24th and 26th minutes.

Summerhill started the second half as they did the first with scores on 31, 32, 34 and 39 minutes. Indeed it was not until the 18th minute of the second half that Don Ash registered their first score with a mighty point from Stephen Breslin.

When Ashbourne were awarded a penalty which was expertly converted by Stephen Carton the writing was on the wall for Summerhill. Further scores from Carton , Patrick Murtagh and Patrick Roche sealed the game for Donaghmore.
