Hurling committee chairman Dom Reilly confirmed that Cillian Farrell has stepped down from his position of Meath senior hurling team manager and the Offaly man was thanked for his services.

Clubs are being circulated with forms to allow them nominate a new man for the position. Wolfe Tones delegate Philip O'Brien suggested that the county senior hurling manager should not be in charge of the under-21s and criticised the preparations for the game against Kildare in the latter grade.

Reilly said there will be a different manager for the under-21 team in 2015.

The hurling chairman paid tribute to Charlie Bird who trained last Wednesday night, played for the county minors the following evening and had his appendix removed on Friday.
