AFL1: Dunshaughlin dispose of Pats

July 16, 2014

Dunshaughlin's Cathal O'Dwyer
Dunshaughlin 3-15
St Patricks 1-08

Dunshaughlin who took the lead after just 30 seconds from a Stephen Ward point never looked back and were ruthless in all aspects of their play to comfortably dispose of Stamullen outfit St Patricks and deservedly got their quest for the Mooney cup back on the road following last week's defeat.

Cathal O' Dwyer and Conor Devereux traded early points before the opening goal of the game came after 9 minutes that seen Conor Devereux find the back of the net in what was a well worked team score that started way back in the Dunshaughlin full back line following a sublime catch from Dan Ormsby.

With Tadhg O' Dushlaine and Ciaran Hoary getting their hands on some vital possession the black and amber did not rest of their laurels and kicked on with a fine Fergus Toolan score another brace from O'Dwyer and two fantastic scores from soupy Devereux from a dead ball meant that Dunshaughlin were in cruise control with the last score of the half coming from wingback Tadhg O'Dushlaine following some good support play from Stephen Ward and Mark Devaney that left the black and amber 7 to the good as the first half came to a close.

Cathal O'Dwyer continued his impressive first half outing on into the second half with him getting the opening point from a converted free before the score of the game that resulted in O'Dwyer finishing brilliantly to get Dunshaughlins second goal of the game following some fine build up play from Caoimhin King and Ray Maloney.

A St Patricks scoring burst did see them manage 3 points in 3 minutes before Fergus Toolan got his second of the game after 38 minutes to get the home side back to scoring ways. Another Cathal O'Dwyer free following a great catch from the inform Devereux now had Dunshaghlin never in any doubt of getting the 2 points though. St Pats woe though was to continue with Dunshaughlin getting their 3 goal of the night from Stephen Ward who was on hand to raise the green flag after Ward showing no ill effects of a recent trip to viva Las Vegas that seen him thankfully not wake up in a room with a tiger and missing his front tooth.

St Pats on the 51st minutes got their first goal of the goal but Ray Maloney was now showing his class and his lung busting runs were paying dividends for Dunshaughlin as it was him who done all the damage to create Wards goal and his work rate was rewarded with substitute Shane Gallogly getting two nice scores with another point from Conor Devereux and a converted Cathal O' Dwyer free comfortable securing the 2 points for Dunshaughlin. Best were Dunshaughlin were Tadhg O'Dushlaine, Ray Maloney, Conor Devereux and Cathal O'Dwyer who were all fantastic on the night.
