Glyde Rangers club notes

December 05, 2016

A really important announcement on behalf of Glyde Rangers GFC.

Some of you may have noticed the New Defibrillator on the wall outside Smyths Spar in recent days. Glyde Rangers GFC decided earlier this year that one way they could help the community was to purchase a 2nd unit to be placed in the Village with easy accessibility. And so the Club purchased this defibrillator & box unit and with the generous permission of Andrew Smyth it has been placed in this prominent position. Many thanks are also due to Tommy Neary and Stephen Whelan for fitting it.

Hopefully, it will never have to used, but in an emergency all you have to do is get the lock code from either the shop or pub or alternatively dial 999 and the code will be given to you and the emergency services can also guide you through its use. Pictured is members of the committee with John Brennan who was on hand to accept the device on behalf of the Community. John, who knows all too well the importance of these machines, has made the point that more people need to be trained on using defibrillators and the club will be facilitating training courses for this in new year.

The club are using funds generated throughout the year to improve the facilities in the Club but this, it was felt, was an appropriate way of giving something back to the community that support us.
