Naomh Fionnbarra Ladies team were beaten by a stronger St. Fechins team in the second round of the Intermediate Championship on Sunday 21st August.  The final score 8-8 to 1-6. St. Fechins won the toss and got the advantage of the strong wind in the first half.  The score board read 3-3 for St. Fechins before Naomh Fionnbarra ladies found the target with a Jeni Devlin point.  Ashley Callaghan took a hard hit in the goal mouth to deny another goal chance.  Good work by Roisin Osbourne and Leanne Sharkey helped the Fionnbarra ladies get the ball up the field creating many scoring chances.  Maria Butterly replaced the injured Ashley Callaghan and Leanne Sharkey took up the keeper position.  Marianne Hullen took a great free to add a second point but Saint Fechins continued to increase the lead with the half time score line of 5-6 to 0-2.

A more spirited Naomh Fionnbarra team were helped by the wind in the second half.  A solo run by Ciara McMahon earned her a free which was converted by Laura Sharkey.  Jeni Devlin jumped high to win a kickout setting Marianne up for a point.  Sarah McGrane was introduced for Vikki Carrie.  Jeni and Marianne combined efforts again to get a super goal but St. Fechins replied with the same.  Leah Cassidy carried the ball from wing back and Marianne scored another point.  Leanne was left with no choice but to bring down the St. Fechins full forward giving away a penalty which St. Fechins scored.  Seaghna Campbell replaced Alison Gorham in corner forward.  Laura Sharkey scored the last point after Ciara McMahon took the ball from midfield.  Katie McGee was introduced for Laura Sharkey.  St. Fechins finished strong putting an end to the Naomh Fionnbarra come back.  This game brings an end to the 2016 season.
