Lannleire 1-13
Naomh Malachi 0-10

A Niall Lennon goal early in the second half helped Lannleire reach the Louth Junior Football Championship Semi-Final following a convincing win over Naomh Malachi in Friday night's quarter final match in Darver. The Dunleer club will now face a last four meeting with neighbours St Kevin's for a place in this year's final.

Despite playing against a very strong wind Lannleire got off to a bright start with Niall Lennon and Donal Clare putting two quick points on the board as they dominated proceedings early on.

Pierce Caherty finally opened the Malachi's account on thirteen minutes after good work down the right hand side by Kieran Hughes.

Gradually the Malachi's began to find joy around the middle of the park and they were level after twenty minutes thanks to an excellent long range score from Jamie Kelly.

An excellent Liam Callan free restored Lannleire's lead but Malachi's kicked three points before the interval to go in at the break leading 0-06 to 0-05. Having played with such a strong wind at their back's Mals supporters must have been disappointed not to be further ahead.

Lannleire returned to the field in determined mood and within the opening couple of minutes good persistence from Niall Lennon saw him get his shot away with the ball dropping under the Malachi's cross bar and into the net.

Colin Murphy and Paul Callan followed up with points from play and Lannleire were in the driving seat.  Another fine Liam Callan pointed free extended Lannleire's lead before Tiernan Gonnolly got Malachi's first score of the second period.

In the following ten minutes, Liam Callan, Niall Lennon and Colin Murphy all kicked points for Lannleire with Malachi's only response a pointed free from Tiernan Gonnolly.

A dominant second half performance from Lannleire who fully deserved victory and a place in the final four.
