GLEN EMMETS 1-12
ST KEVINS 2-8

Glen Emmets needed a strong second half performance to see off the challenge of St Kevins and set up a meeting with Oliver Plunketts for the right to play Division 2 football next season.

The strength of the Tullyallen bench proved decisive on this occasion as Ronan Carr came on to score a vital goal, while Andrew Mooney, James Butler and Mark Noone also contributed points in this Division 3 promotion play-off.

The Kevins had the benefit of two games in recent weeks and that certainly helped them have the better of the first half against an Emmets side who have been idle since the end of the league season.

However, the Philipstown men didn't take all the chances that came their way and after a low scoring opening 20 minutes it was Glen Emmets who led by 0-2 to 0-1.

The Kevins then moved up a gear and took the lead when Seanie Crosbie hit the net from a penalty on 21 minutes.

Two minutes later Cian Callan added a second to put his side 2-1 to 0-2 ahead.

The Tullyallen men rallied and points from Conor Grimes and Ronan Grufferty cut the deficit to 2-1 to 0-4 at half time.

After the first two points of the second half were shared, Glen Emmets took control when Carr's goal helped them score 1-3 without reply to lead by 1-8 to 2-2 at the end of the third quarter.

The game remained very much in the balance right to the end but two late points from Mark Noone and Grufferty had their side leading by 1-12 to 2-5.

The Kevins battled to the end and scored three points in injury time but time ran out for the young side before they could produce the equaliser.
