The TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Gaelic Football Finals press event

Players from all six counties involved in Sunday's TG4 All Ireland Ladies Gaelic Football Finals are united in their appeal to supporters to turn out in record numbers.

Cork, Dublin, Kildare, Waterford, Louth and Scotland have all backed a challenge from LGFA President Marie Hickey to beat the attendance of 30,710 at this year's Women's FA Cup Final at Wembley.

"We want to surpass that and have the biggest attendance at a women's sporting event in Europe this year, and if we can beat our own record of 33,000 at the 2001 Finals, that would be even better again.".

Ciara O'Sullivan (Cork), Sorcha Furlong (Dublin), Aisling Holton (Kildare), Linda Wall (Waterford) and Michelle McMahon (Louth) appeal to supporters in their clubs and counties to attend.

The TG4 Ladies All Ireland Football Finals were launched today at Croke Park which will also be the venue for the finals on Sunday next, September 27th.

The action will get underway on Sunday when Scotland make the journey to Dublin where they will meet the 2012 finalists, Louth at 11:45pm, this will be followed by the meeting of Kildare and Waterford in the Intermediate final and the action will conclude with the hotly anticipated Senior decider between Cork and Dublin at 4:00pm.

The 6 competing counties were represented today by their captains and managers who previewed the finals and undertook their final media duties before the big games. The next time the players will be back will be when they are preparing for throw in on Sunday.

Speaking at the TG4 All Ireland Finals media day LGFA president Marie Hickey said 'Earlier this month I issued a challenge to Ladies Gaelic Football fans and sports fans in general to help us set a European record for attendance at a female sporting event, a record currently held by the 2015 Women's FA Cup in Wembley. I firmly believe that supporters of the game will come to Croke Park for this brilliant occasion and for 3 matches that will all be top class encounters. Tickets are still available from www.tickets.ie and they will be available from usual outlets on approach to the ground on Sunday so there is no reason why people won't be able to make it to the finals.'

Tickets from €25 for adults, €10 for students and OAPs and €5 for children can be purchased online with group tickets available from the LGFA offices at 01 8363156.
