U14 Pella Blitz: We had a fine run out at the U14 Pella blitz on Saturday last in Collon. We played Melifont Rovers and after a very slow start we got into the swing of it and even though we were beaten it was a very enjoyable and good run out to start off the year. Well done to Jamie Molloy, Lee Molloy, Robert McCarthy, Darragh Mc Donnell, Tadgh Kearney, Sam Sherman, Tadgh Carroll, Emmet Carroll and thanks also to Robert Kearney for transport.

Website: Our new website is up and running and the address is http://www.oconnellsgfc.gaa.ie and should work on all search engines. If it does not work on internet explorer make sure you have the correct address as above, if the site does come up but the pictures on the main page are not visible press the F5 button to refresh the page and all should be ok. We are constantly adding to the site and it is not the finished product yet, not by a long way.

Under 14: Extremely disappointing end to our U14 championship as we got drawn away to the Glen Emmett's on Sunday morning 6/9/15. Firstly it collided with our parish Pattern and although the minor board were willing to change the fixture it needed the agreement of the Glen Emmett's which they refused so that was the end of that. We have plenty of good players available to us at this level but it was very frustrating that so many decided not to turn up and with the soccer season also kicking off on the same day this left us with 16 players only one sub. The Glen Emmett's started at a blistering pace and raced ahead 1-2 to no score before we registered our first point from Sean Reynolds. We pushed on and got the next two points and felt we could cause them some trouble but that was short lived as they hit the back of our net on two more occasions and we could not get past midfield and the half time whistle could not have come quick enough. Half time score Glen Emmett's 3-7 to O'Connell's/ Stab 0-3
At half time we just asked the lads to have some passion and pride in the jersey and no matter what don't give up and keep trying hard. The Emmett's got the perfect 2nd half start with a well worked goal but the lads really showed some fighting spirit and our next two scores were goals from the boot of Jamie Molloy which did lift the spirits but with the Emmett's emptying their bench our lads just ran out of steam and tired quickly. The Emmett's ran out easy winners in the end but our lads can be lifted by their 2nd half efforts and although it was a hard defeat we will move on from this game and look forward to next year.
A big thanks to all the lads that did turn up for the game with some of them playing their last game at this age level and I wish them all the best with their football in the years ahead. This brings the curtain down on our football for this year and with our U12 reaching the league final and our U14 winning their league it has been a good year all round. We played (11) U12 games, (6) U13 games, (12) U14 games we also held 14 training sessions so it's been busy but rewarding. All I can ask is that the lads keep up the good work and continue practicing their skills and we will make more positive steps forward next year. O'Connell's Abu.
