Young Ireland and Nh Malachi will have to face each other in the Intermediate Championship relegation play-off final after losing their respective semi-finals at Dunleer on Saturday evening.

The games also saw Glyde Rangers and St Fechins secure their place in the championship for next season.

The opening game saw St Fechins emerge with victory but only after being pushed all the way by Nh Malachi.

The Division 1 side from Termonfeckin were expected to win comfortably against the Division 3 opposition but in the end were happy to get away with a 0-18 to 2-10 win.

The South Louth side looked to be cruising to victory when they went in at the break leading by 0-12 to 1-3. The only goal of the half came from Eamonn Agnew on 17 minutes when he flicked in a long centre.

The second half saw the Malachis turn in a battling display and retained hope right up to the end thanks to a second goal from Donal Begley. However, the Fechins managed to do just enough and with Ronan Holcroft once again leading the way in terms of scores, they held out for a vital win.

Meanwhile, Glyde emerged as comfortable winners against Young Irelands as they finished winners by 2-10 to 0-8.

Following a couple of impressive displays in recent weeks, Glyde went into the game with a degree of confidence and that was obvious in the opening half. They got their reward in the form of a Jake Stewart goal as his side went in leading by 1-5 to 0-3.

Derek Maguire contributed five points for the Young Irelands as the Dundalk men battled to stay in the game. However, the Tallanstown side always looked to be in control of the situation and confirmed victory when Ciaran Sheridan hit the net from a penalty late on.
