Carlow's Sean Gannon

Carlow 3-8
Louth 1-12

Turlough O'Brien enjoyed his first win as Carlow manager when they got the better of Louth at Dr Cullen Park.

Hughie Gahan's first minute goal gave the hosts the perfect start and they led from start to finish.

Midfielder Sean Gannon added a second goal in the 27th minute and they held a 2-3 to 0-6 lead at the break.

Louth's fate was sealed when they conceded an own goal after the restart and, with Daniel St Ledger impressing a centre-back, the Barrowsiders withstood an improved second-half showing by Colin Kelly's charges.
