Glencarrick GAA Notes

Division 4E Result:

13/11/14

Dundalk Rovers 6-17 ; Glencarrick 0-2

What can only be described as an abysmal performance on Tuesday night, our second string were hammered by Dundalk Rovers in this relegation 4 pointer. From missed frees from 10 yards to fisting sideline balls this team are in danger of dropping down to Division 4F. Trailing by 10 points at half time with only 13 players, we managed to field 15 with Secretary Gene Fitzpatrick and FAS man Patsy Farrell standing in the corners for the second half. Conor McPhillips missed three one on one chances that should have clawed it back to a respectable score line, but when Patsy Farrell got sent off and McPhillips succumbed to a calf injury we never stood a chance. With 47yr old Matt McDonald playing goals for the first time since the 1999 Intermediate final we were struggling for numbers but the former county stalwart was powerless to prevent the six goals going in with the 5th one particularly unlucky when the ball hit back off the crossbar and ricochet off his head and into the goal. After a lengthy period of medical attention Matt to his credit played bravely on. Selectors Finbarr Mooney and Anton Devlin have a big task to keep this team up.

Team: Matt McDonald, Frank Sheridan, Jimmy Finnegan, Gerry Finnegan, Paddy McCabe, Peter Freeman, Eddie Murray, Mike Hunt, Seamus Thornton, Conor McPhillips, Darren McNeill, Fergie McNally, AN Other, Gene Fitzpatrick, Patsy Farrell (0-2)
