Barry O'Hare Roche Emmets

Roche Emmets moved clear of the relegation zone in Division 2 and also gave themselves a chance of securing a play-off spot with a three point victory over Oliver Plunketts on Friday night.

The game was closely contested throughout and at the break it was the Drogheda side who went in leading by 0-7 to 0-6.

Once again the teams were evenly matched in the second period but Barry O'Hare produced the only goal of the game to give his side a 1-13 to 0-13 win and put a dent in the Plunketts hopes of making the top five.

The action in Division 3 saw Nh Fionnbarra retain their position at the top of the table when a strong final quarter saw them record a 2-12 to 0-7 win.

The first half was a low-scoring affair as neither side were able to find any real rhythm as they went in level at four points apiece.

There remained little between the teams in the third quarter as the Finbarrs edged into a 0-7 to 0-5 lead. However, they upped the tempo in the closing stages with goals from Jack Butterly and Conor Osborne to complete the win.

The Westerns maintained their winning run in the league to stay level with the Finbarrs thanks to an impressive 3-16 to 2-8 win over Nh Malachi.

The Courtbane side got off to a great start with a third minute goal from Kevin Rogers but the Westerns took command of the game and went in at the break leading by 1-10 to 2-2, with Pierce Caherty scoring a second goal for the Mals.

The Reaghstown men continued to dominate and added two goals to their tally to complete a comfortable win and end the Mals hopes of finishing on top of the table.

Glen Emmets consolidated their position in third place with a straight forward 2-17 to 0-7 win over John Mitchels.

The Tullyallen side were in control from the outset and a James Butler penalty goal on 16 minutes saw them lead by 1-7 to 0-3 at the break.

A goal from Keith Lynch inside five minutes of the restart put the game beyond any doubt for the Emmets side who kicked ten points in the second half.

Meanwhile, an early goal from Peter Osborne put the Sean McDermotts on course for a comfortable 1-19 to 3-3 win over St Kevins at Philipstown.

Osborne's goal helped his side to lead by 1-10 to 2-1 at half time with the Kevins goals coming from Darragh McMullen and Sean Crosbie.

The Seans were rarely troubled in the second half as they added nine points to their tally, with Aidan Craven scoring a late consolation goal for the Kevins.
