Dromcollogher/Broadford GAA Notes By: Gareth Meaney For Wednesday and Thursday 29th and 30th of October 2008: Results: REIDY INSPIRES DROMCOLLOGHER/ BROADFORD TO THEIR FOURTH SENIOR FOOTBALL COUNTY TITLE County Limerick Senior Football Championship Final Dromcollogher/ Broadford 2-15 Ballylanders 1-08 This was a game of two halves, in the first half it was very tight which Ballylanders lead by a point to Dromcollogher/ Broadford at half time. But then in the second half Dromcollogher/ Broadford came out played the best football they had ever played in their lives. Ballylanders had no answer to Dromcollogher/ Broadford in the second half and Dromcollogher/ Broadford took the William Casey Trophy back to the west for the first time since the trophy was given to the County Board. Danny Murphy got the score of the game for Ballylanders which a hand passed over the bar and then a short puck out from Eammon Scollard to Tommy Stack, did not work out and Kieran O'Callaghan step in the first goal of the game for Ballylanders. Pat Donnelly opened Dromcollogher/ Broadford account with a point from play and then Garrett Noonan added to Pat Donnelly to leave 2 points between the sides. Jimmy Barry Murphy scored a point for Ballylanders from play and then Michael Reidy replied with a point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford. Stephen Fox scored the next point of the game for Ballylanders and then Michael Reidy scored the next two points for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to bring the margin down to the minimum. Jimmy Barry Murphy scored the next two points for Ballylanders, with one play and the other from a free to leave a goal between the sides. Ray Lynch scored the next point of the game for Dromcollogher/ Broadford and Michael Reidy put the minimum between the sides again. Stephen Fox scored another point for Ballylanders to give them a two point lead and then Seanie Buckley brought the game back one point margin again with a point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford. To leave at half time Ballylanders 1-6 to Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-8. Ray Lynch scored the first score the second which was a point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford which brought back on level terms for the first time in the game. Michael Reidy gave Dromcollogher/ Broadford the lead for first time in the game with a point. Ray Lynch put them ahead by two points and then Michael Reidy put 3 points between the sides. Garrett Noonan scored the first goal of the game for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to put six points between the sides and at this stage of the game it looked to be over. Jimmy Barry Murphy replied with a free for Ballylanders to cut down the margin the five points and then Michael scored another point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to put margin back to six points again. Connie McSweeney scored the next point for Ballylanders and then Michael Reidy scored another point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford. Garrett Noonan put them by seven points between with a point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford and then Seanie Buckley send the trophy back to the west for the first time with the second goal of the game for Dromcollogher/ Broadford which put them into a lead 10 points at this stage the game was over as a contest. To leave at full time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 2-15 to Ballylanders 1-8. John Galvin presented the William Casey Trophy Dromcollogher/ Broadford Captain Tom McLoughlin. Tom thanked the management team of John, Mike Quaid, Mike Fahy, Ned, Jim, Christine and Garry and the panel of all commitment they had put in throughout the year. Tom thanked the referee of the game Mike Mann and Tom thanked the Live 95fm for sponsoring the competition and their coverage of the games during the year. Tom thanked Seamus Cleary for sponsoring the football jerseys and then he gave three cheers to Ballylanders. Michael Reidy was then presented the Man of the Match Trophy for his brilliant performance on the day. Other Subs for Dromcollogher/ Broadford were: Colin Lordan, Mike Boyce, Declan O'Connor, Jason Ryan, Timmy Stokes, Conor Brosnan and Aidan Butler Referee: Mike Mann U16 County Limerick Hurling Championship Division 2 Final South Liberties 1-10 Dromcollogher/ Broadford 1-06 This was a very tight game of hurling played down in Ballyagran on Saturday last, hard luck to Management team of Seamus, Mike, Pat and players on losing to South Liberties. Keith Lacey scored all the scores for Dromcollogher/ Broadford in the first half of the game, he scored 1-4 with the points all from place balls and the gaol was a penalty and South Liberties scored 0-8 in the first half. To leave the score at half time South Liberties 0-8 to Dromcollogher/ Broadford 1-4. In the Second half scores were a lot hard to come by with South Liberties scoring 1-2 and Dromcollogher/ Broadford scoring 2 points with the first point from Keith Lacey and the second from Daniel Collins. To leave the score at full time South Liberties 1-10 to Dromcollogher/ Broadford 1-06.
