Laois minor hurling manager Pat Critchley

Laois minor manager Pat Critchley believes that the physical difference between his charges and Kilkenny proved decisive in their Leinster MHC semi-final.

The Cats eased to victory to make it a poor weekend for Laois teams following the senior footballers and hurlers respective defeats.

Critchley explained to the Leinster Express that Kilkenny were far more physical than his players and won the majority of tackles during the game.

"The biggest thing was we didn't match Kilkenny physically more than anything else," said Critchley. "When you don't do that you don't get a result.

"If it was a skills competition we'd probably be okay, but there is more to it than that, and when we didn't win the physical stakes they were on the front foot, and you're chasing the game then and you don't want to be doing that."
