Seamus 'Cheddar' Plunkett admits it would be a big setback for the Laois hurlers if they were to lose their Division 1B status.

The O'Moore's face Limerick this weekend before turning their thoughts to a relegation playoff with Antrim.

"We just need to manage next Sunday against Limerick and then manage the relegation scrap with Antrim the week after and see where that's going to take us," 'Cheddar' told the Leinster Express after last Sunday's defeat to Wexford.

"I think we have played three away matches and Antrim have played two away matches, so that determines the home venue, so look, it's a very important match to us now.

"It's very important we stay in this division. Even (referee) Barry Kelly was remarking to me after the match that the quality of hurling was absolutely top class, and that's why we need to keep playing in this division.

"This is not going to happen really quickly, we need to have a culture of consistently improving ourselves year on year, match after match and grade after grade, no matter what it is."
