The feature game from tonight's national football league programme was the Division One meeting of Dublin and Donegal at Croke Park.

The hosts, who lost their opener in Cork, were keen to exact revenge on the Ulster champions (who overcame Derry in their first league outing of the year) following last August's All-Ireland SFC semi-final defeat at the same venue. Ryan McHugh inspired the northerners to victory that day but tonight it was a whole new ball game!

Three Divsion Two encounters were also down for decision tonight: Leinster hopefuls Meath and Kildare collided at Navan; Laois entertained Cavan in Portlaoise; and Roscommon travelled to Newry to take on Down.

Meanwhile, some early-season silverware was up for grabs in the curtain-raiser at HQ, where the hurlers of Dublin and Galway will contest the Walsh Cup decider.
