Laois GAA have completed the purchase of land where they plan to develop a centre of excellence.

The old Portlaoise GAA grounds situated beside O'Moore Park has been bought by Croke Park, but will be transferred to the Laois county board.

Laois GAA secretary Niall Handy has made the announcement through his report for the annual convention.

The 17 acre site has been earmarked for a major development that will be done in two phases once the necessary funding is secured.

Three full size pitches are to be developed and it is hoped that development work would start in early Spring 2015.
