"Getting emotional about whether it's home or away is neither here nor there"

Laois manager Tomas O Flatharta says it doesn't really matter whether a team plays at home or away.

The O'Moore County had home advantage for their first-round Qualifier win over Fermanagh but must travel to Wexford Park to face the Model County on Sunday afternoon.

"The way I see it, no matter where you are playing - be it home or away or in Croke Park - it is a field," the Kerry man says in The Irish Independent. "And you have to go and prepare well, have your plan, players have to know their roles.

"Getting emotional about whether it's home or away is neither here nor there. You just have to perform on the day.

"You have to put in the same work rate and do the same things and you have to work for the 70 minutes no matter where you are.

"Before the last game I said that Fermanagh, like any Ulster team, are not easily beat and that they would come down fighting and that's exactly what we were expecting. But our lads showed a lot of character and fight.

"We got over the line because our lads were ruthless in everything they were doing until the very last minute.

"What we are trying to develop here is a team that has a lot of character and work rate and in this part of the campaign there is no safety net. It's straight knockout. I see these lads prepare and train and they put in a mighty effort and I'm very pleased with how they are moving."
