Roisin Phelan has spoken of her pride at captaining Cork in today's All-Ireland ladies football final against Dublin.

The 19-year-old from Aghada will lead out a team that includes a number of players who are bidding to win their ninth All-Ireland medals.

"It means an unbelievable amount," the UCC dentistry student told RTE.

"When I was a minor we lost our last semi-final to Dublin, and I was never sure if I'd ever again get into a Cork shirt.

"It means so much to be here. To be on the younger end with the girls that are there, the inspiration that they are. It's just amazing to be here and amazing to be playing alongside them."

The young corner back added: "I used to watch them from the stand and now it's great to actually be here on the same pitch as them.

"They now trust you with the ball. It's a little bit scary at times but that's what a team is, you have to believe in each other even if you doubt yourself a little bit."
