Cork's double All-Ireland winning heroes of 1990 gathered in the Rochestown Park Hotel last Friday for a Gala Lunch - but the star of the show was former Rebel County dual underage player Jamie Wall.

The 23-year-old, who was paralysed from the midriff down by a spinal abscess last year, received a standing ovation as he 'walked' into the function with the aid of an Exo-skeleton.

The gala lunch attracted over 600 attendees and proceeds went to the Friends of Jamie Wall fund and the Friends of Dessie Fitzgerald fund.

As 1990 football captain Larry Tompkins said: "Two men who wake up every morning hoping something great will happen."

Greeted by Marty Morrissey, The  Examiner reports that Jamie described the motivation to walk again as "my All-Ireland".

Marty also spoke with Jamie's coach Colin O'Shaughnessy, whose Cork gym holds Ireland's only Exo-skeleton.

Jamie uses the device up to three times a week to simulate walking movements.
