Limerick will oppose the one-v-one hurling penalty when the motion is debated at this weekend's Congress in the Slieve Russell hotel.

The Limerick Leader reports that club delegates met on Tuesday night in Claughaun to debate all 65 motions on the agenda and, despite secretary Mike O'Riordan telling the meeting that goalkeepers appeared to favour the change, those in attendance voted against the Hurling 2020 proposal.

One of the main concerns expressed was the the rule change would include all age groups and teams and not just inter-county teams.

The Shannonsiders will also try to block the introduction of a black card in hurling which is aimed at reducing cynical fouling.

They will also vote against a Clare motion which proposes that all GAA grounds across the country be opened up to non-GAA sports.
