Superb ambassador for the game of hurling and a great hurler to boot. 2008 hurler of the year in the year that Kilkenny were at their peak.

Tipp vs Killkenny matches will be a easier from a Tipp point of view without him in a Kilkenny shirt.

He was the sort of player you would love to have in your side and hate to have playing against you.

Often seemed to go long spells in games with little involvement but then would turn it around completely in a few minutes. Regardless of how good the talent coming through is, replacing players like him is no easy task.

The biggest compliment I can give him is I'm delighted he's gone! A hugely important part of KK's team. Never wasted possession and was deceptively quick. when he went down the middle many defences seemed to just open up and the ball often was handpassed off left or right for a handy goal for Power, Brennan, etc.
Expected him to go for another year. Will Fennelly now follow? Surely this is one leader to lose for KK to win next year? Surely!?!?
