Leinster Quarter Finals to be moved for Springsteen

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

'The GAA Today confirmed a change of date for the Leinster senior championship double-header between Wexford and Dublin in hurling and Wexford and Kildare in football to accommodate a Bruce Springsteen gig.

The games, initially scheduled to take place on Sunday 29 May - two days after the Boss' first gig in HQ - will now throw-in on Saturday 21 May at Croke Park.'

Fair enough, not really a big issue.

Personally, Id consider the money made off the concerts to cover the gaa's income, and move the quarter finals down the country to provincial grounds, to help out businesses which support the gaa in these areas. That would be reflective of the amateur ethos they so often crow about, I would think.

At present the gaa operates in a manner befitting ebenezer scrooge

Don't see the big deal , people are always whinging that their aren't enough games played down the country. So the correct decision has been made.

So basically the GAA should only favour business in towns with decent grounds but other business that "help" the GAA should be left behind.

Matches should be played in the the best place available to play them and there should be no other considerations.

The GAA isnt a charity so it shouldn't be doing anything to help anyone apart from it's own members. The GAA operates in a manner similar to all large sport organisations and people in general i.e it's looks after itself first and foremost.

It's not being played down the country, it's being played a week earlier in Croke Park.

Agreed I'd move Kerry itself to accommodate the great man!!!

Just typical, my dream gig in my dream venue and the day before this is announced I paid for my flights and accommodation for a trip to Europe starting on the 25 May.

AGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Croi, the dates for the holidays were a carefully negotiated compromise already with the GF to ensure I wouldn't miss any of Kerry's potential Championship campaign this summer.

Considering she has no real interest in the Boss, it looks like I'm stuck riding a gondola in Venice as Bruce lights up Croker.

Feck it anyway, I actually havn't seen him since 2009 and the River is one of my favorite albums.

If I give you my mobile number would ya ring me when Sherry Darling comes on so I can hear it ;)

uibhfhaili1986, it would be great if it could be spread out to every corner of the country, but Im just being pragmatic. You need a feasible stadium to hold a game like that. Surely some games away from Dublin is a good thing? BTW I know that isn't the case here, it was just my example
