Brolly tells Harte to 'f' off

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Now while I agree with him regarding Mickys comments, I think the language used is OTT and more to gain headlines rather than highlighting the problem with football in general.

What's others views?

Brolly and Spillane are a bit like you RD , they're just making comments for the sake of it and to try and gain attention for themselves . I really cannot understand why RTE persist with these people .

He lost the argument when he threw language like that in in connection with one of the most respected figures in football.

How dare Brolly tell Mickey Harte to f**k off.
Who does he think he is by talking like that to one of the icons of Gaelic Football.

To be honest I think Brolly is right, I usually ignore him but I was caught by the title of the article so job done Brolly. But anyway that aside if Mickey Harte said "we're not in the business of entertainment", then Brolly actually has a point when he says "well then f**k off and play behind closed doors if you're not in the business of entertainment".

Ok it's not the most elegant way to phrase it but that's just Joe looking for a headline, but again his point is valid, football and sport in general should be about entertainment, if they weren't then they probably would never have taken off in the first place.

He was one of the most respected Seanie, however I feel that respect is starting to wane. I agree with the sentiment of everything Brolly said whilst also taking cognisance of the fact that the language used certainly could have been more tempered but I'm not going to get on a moral high horse here as to be honest I've often shouted the same at Mickey Harte, Malachy O'Rourke, Jim McGuinness, Brian McIver and others and their respective teams when I see some of the stuff they have produced in recent years, true I've done that in the comfort of my own sitting room and not on national airwaves but I've done it none the less, so let he who casts the first stone etc etc

His language was wrong but he was 100% right in what he said.

Therightstuff. While in flattered you hold me in such high esteem as putting me in the same category as multiple all ire medals , also i don't have the cushy jobs they have , i actually worked hard for where i am today,
But try to keep to the comments, now lets not forget it was Donegal that perfected the puke football method.

I've no idea what you do when your not on HS but well done all the same . I can only judge by your comments and I think they are ludicrous . You actually once claimed that Meath had better players than us , now how can anyone take you serious ? Meath's behaviour on football pitches ' back in the day ' was more criminal than any blanket .

100% agree with brolly. And I wouldn't just say it to harte. I'd include all the ulster counties and a fair few down south too.
You are there to entertain and if as a manager you can't see that then you should get off the pitch. Fair play to brolly for saying what we all think.

While Brolly is excitable and prone to the rant which doesn't do him any favours, I think there is something to be said in the overall scheme of the idea that people do attend games with the hope of seeing an exciting and enjoyable spectacle. If as a manager you decide that entertainment and enjoyment is no longer required then it does not bode well for how you view the sport anymore

Along with this ,I don't think the players enjoy this style of football but the manager calls the shots. Essentially I don't think anyone wins.

You've shouted that stuff at Malachy O Rourke Richue ? When was that ? Would it have been on the days when his so called defensive Monaghan team scored 1-18, 0-20 or 2-16 against Meath ?

Hypocritical from Brolly when you consider he called teams who man mark as naïve!

Wasn't he the first to blow the trumpet for Harte and then Jim Mc.

Has become an attention seeking whore

Joe Brolly is yet to manage a football team above his Club's U-14s or 16s, whilst that is a laudable activity(I do something similar myself) it leaves him woefully under-qualified to speak in such negative terms about Micky Harte and Brian McIver both of whom have led teams to National Inter-county titles.

Whilst some people feel that the approach of setting a football team out to nullify the attacking threat of another team is some sort of great scourge to our association, personally I feel that these headline seeking personal attacks on members of our association pose a much greater treat to the principles of the GAA. This is the behaviour that must stop and the association at the highest level needs to act to stop members behaving in this way towards fellow members.

I sincerely hope that Micky Harte doesn't dignify these remarks with a response, don't reach down to this level Micky

No therightstuff what i said was that Donegal had the least skilled players to ever win a all Ireland, lets be honest man for man Donegal wouldn't be in the top 10 in country, it was all system and j mcg. Please don't try to rewrite history and say you actually have good footballers, you don't. End of.

Downredhand, while i disagree with the language used, i feel as a supporters we including brolly have every right to question what way a manager sets up to play the game.

Muck ill repeat what colm O'Rourke said, "the worst team to ever win a all ire, proving that you no longer need the best players to win a all Ireland". You and i know that Dublin were the best team in country last year but were caught out by the system, and then Kerry out Donegaled Donegal in final. Its not rocket science.
Anyway enough about Donegal, we have plenty of time to discuss that during the year, lets stick to topic.
