Fantastic to see Anthony Tohill on Second Captains , great attitude to his accident , comes across as a genuine bloke always has , be great to see him get back to punditry as I found him knowledgeable and balanced unlike a lot of ex players ,

Couldn't agree more, was always a big fan of his from his playing days to his impartial, fair and insightful punditry. Would be great to see him back next summer.

Agree completely.

In my opinion he was the only football pundit that was fair, impartial and knowledgeable (honorable mention to Ciaran Whelan) in the history of the Sunday Game. He made the mistake of criticizing a Kerry player in 2010. That was his death knell. I would love to see him back.

I saw a bit of him on tele the other day, great to see him back, always had a lot of time for Tohill, seems like a very down to earth sort of fella, his accident was pretty serious but he seems quite content about the whole thing.

100% agree. Was RTE's leading pundit by far. Made the fatal mistake of criticising a Kerry player...never seen on TV since!

Sorry KB

I assume you mean the accident , well simple as he put it himself , chainsaw = knot in wood = slips =hits face etc
Hospital scars etc , but he wasn't being macho when talking about it , just very matter of fact , a hero on and off the pitch .

Bennybuny, I think that Kerrys problem with the Tohill criticism was that he only told one side of the story, and there were two sides in fairness.
Apart from that, and as for Tohill himself, an intelligent man, a gentleman and a very good, respectable pundit, head and shoulders above Brolly and Spillane in terms of the way he conducts himself.

I don't dispute that. Tohill picked out an incident (in a game v Cork) about Paul Galvin. Galvin got suspended. Eoin Cadogan was as guilty. There were accusations of 'trial by Sunday Game' and about him being blinkered (and a lot worse were said). The Sunday Game does not have the power to suspend anybody. If there was an issue, it was with the CCCCCCCCCC who are the ones that suspend (and overturn) players. If Kerry were aggrieved that Cork players were let away with things, it was not with Tohill. Anyway, he will know better the next time.

Kerry has a problem with everyone, Tohill is the man.

Only saw it yesterday having recorded it. Have to say very impressive interview. Cool calm and collected attitude to all life's challenges. Always admired him as a player and have to say that this is the first real personal interview I have seen with him. Well done Anthony!! Would like to think that I would have that inner strength if something like that happened to me but I think few have.

Us Irish are an awful shower for disrespecting our own but we really have some great people within our ranks, GAA included. Our national sport moulds some great people. In the face of traumatic personal experiences we have people like Anthony, Micky Harte, Jonny Cooper etc. who just keep going and putting themselves forward. Inspirational and great to see in a world where cash is king in other sports.
