Seen the story on the main page there, have to say I think it's a great idea from the Leitrim manager - Some might see it as a novel idea but who knows, perhaps he can unearth one or two players to compliment the existing squad - hopefully so for his innovation.

I think all counties should do something like this to be honest, I know its a fairly common gripe in every county that player a, b and c don't get a chance - what better way for them to prove it in a session in front of the manager, selectors and other players.

Yes it is a novel idea. It might work for Leitrim. They have only 20 odd clubs though.

Did fermanagh not do something similar in 2004, they brought on players like mark little with no intercounty experience and got to an all Ireland semi final.

I don't think it was an open trial back in '04. The squad was badly hit with retirements and people walking off after '03 though.
