Donegal defeated Fingal to get promoted to Division 2B in the Hurling League, is this their highest league positioning.... cuchulainn35 (Armagh) - Posts: 1673 - 13/04/2014 21:51:35 1574700 Link 0 |
Well done to our hurlers, a great achievement. MuckrossHead (Donegal) - Posts: 5028 - 14/04/2014 10:59:07 1574792 Link 0 |
A great achievement considering that off the top of my head I can only think of about 6 clubs in the county that have hurling participation. Maith na gasuraí! Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9129 - 14/04/2014 11:15:38 1574806 Link 0 |
Comhgáirdeachas Dun na nGall! I remember them losing 2 Lory Meagher finals & one of the 1st Nicky Rackard finals yet they have come on in leaps & bounds. They seem to be doing a lot of work at underage level & now regularly compete at minor/juvenile/U14 'B' level instead of 'C'. Just goes to show that the game can flourish even in football-dominated counties. keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 14/04/2014 14:38:34 1574982 Link 0 |
Donegal, a true dual county, now you can look down your noses at the rest of us. brendtheredhand (Tyrone) - Posts: 10897 - 14/04/2014 15:21:14 1575019 Link 0 |
Great stuff - we'll be meeting in the 2B next year. Does Carndonagh still have a club? portavogielad (Down) - Posts: 446 - 14/04/2014 15:40:46 1575037 Link 0 |
Yeah, great to see Donegal consolidate last years Nicky Rackard win with promotion to division 2, great to see continued progress. Bodes well for them to retain the Nicky Rackard. Looking forward to seeing how they do in the Ulster SHC this year as well (I think they play Down in a quarter-final). Marlon_JD (Tipperary) - Posts: 1823 - 14/04/2014 16:15:36 1575065 Link 0 |
Fair play! It's not easy having to play in a play-off only a week after winning at a level. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7838 - 14/04/2014 19:40:38 1575191 Link 0 |
Fair play to them, great to see them progress as there are some hurling fanatics up there. A great example on how a lower level team can build some momentum by winning the small competitions and then use it as a springboard for bigger successes. I believe the biggest problem up there was club rivalry but when teams start winning then everyone is happy to toe the line. Hope they continue to progress and the clubs up there start to get stronger as well from it. Soma (UK) - Posts: 2630 - 14/04/2014 19:51:12 1575198 Link 0 |
Well done to our hurlers and congratulations. Might have to change my pen name :::Liam on Errigle instead of Sam on Errigle. SamOnErrigal (Donegal) - Posts: 1427 - 14/04/2014 20:43:49 1575234 Link 0 |
So I've just seen that the Nicky Rackard draw has been 're-drawn',to allow Fingal to compete in the competition. And instead of Donegal (the champions) playing Roscommon at home on May 3rd, they now have to travel to Roscommon a week earlier to play them in a pre-liminary round. Fair dues to them, might they have access to a few more good club footballers who will play IC hurling since there is no club championships on till next August at the least? Caseys89 (Limerick) - Posts: 80 - 15/04/2014 16:47:52 1575590 Link 0 |
Why is Donegal not playing in the Ring this year anyway? They won the Rackard last year I believe. They could hold their own against the likes of Mayo, Armagh and Wicklow. They would probably struggle a little against the better teams like Kerry & Derry. They perhaps need to expand the Ring to ten teams - Two groups of five.
