Kerry and cork have a great sporting rivalry but, I think that the people of both counties, are very much alike in many ways! Bigapple (Kerry) - Posts: 495 - 02/09/2010 17:01:18 763649 Link 0 |

there is a divide in Cork between Tipp in hurling and Kerry in football. For me the football has taken over in the last few years but as of yet nothing comes close to the big games against Tipp in Thurles, what a day out! The Kerry rivalry is more full on however as half the population of Kerry seems to be living in Cork, many of my neighbours are now Kerrymen and there would be as many Kerry flags around the place as Cork flags. Trips to Dingle and Killarney can be sickening of late but hopefully their is a reversal on the way and I look forward to my next visit. tj09 (Cork) - Posts: 481 - 02/09/2010 17:52:04 763734 Link 0 |

I can be very hard to live in laois in august and september!!! esp the hurling area as I live a mile from both the tipp and kk border!!!! Even Offaly in the 80's and 90's were bringing hom liam!! It must be one of the great gaa mysteries why a county surounded by kk, tipp and offaly can't be competitve in hurling!! As for footbal our neighbours to the east have had a great year again!! We live in hope!! Ben (None) - Posts: 108 - 03/09/2010 09:36:32 764077 Link 0 |

I grew up on the Kildare laois border, was always great rivalry between the supporters of both counties but when Laois won the leinster I was cheering them on and waved at the fans driving home with their blue and whit flags flying, its all a bit of craic and good natured banter, would like to see them do well against any team except Kildare of course. bryanadams (Kildare) - Posts: 733 - 03/09/2010 14:04:36 764370 Link 0 |

A couple of years ago, on the eve of Clonguish playing in the Longford county football final, they had an auld car painted green & white (the club colours) parked outside the village. In the dead of night though, some fiendish rascals (obviously from the neighbouring parish - club colours white & green) sprayed UP KILLOE on it. Well my x was from tralee so we use to not talk for days when Cork and Kerry played. She had no real interested but did her best to wind me up. We still get on so i guess its only a bit of rivalry. I hate Kerry when it comes to football but i like Kerry people. God i cant believe im actually admitting that. rebeltrev (Cork) - Posts: 344 - 03/09/2010 19:05:54 764678 Link 0 |

spot on mourne its a 32 county island- but its also two different countries- walk down the street in any part of northern ireland and commit a crime and see are you covered by irish law, what you would like it to be is largely irrelevant when its a factual answer not an opinion. liathroidboy (Mayo) - Posts: 4921 - 05/09/2010 15:45:08 765576 Link 0 |
