Galway should refuse to play in Thurles.

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Having got the better of Galway regarding the NHL Final, the GAA must think that the county is a soft touch. Galway must stand up to these crazy officials in the GAA and refuse to play the U-21 Final in Thurles. Not only are Tipperary getting to play the Final on their own training ground, but crucially, they will be playing under lights and will already have ample experience of training under these very same lights. It is absolutely bizarre that Galway would be expected to give all these advantages to Tipperary. The sensible thing is to play the Final in Croke Park as a double-header with the Camogie Final, or failing that, a neutral venue like Tullamore. Galway must be adamant that they will not play in Semple Stadium.

An All Ireland hurling final should not be under lights in the first place! It is often the best game of the year and ought to be treated with a bit more respect.

its a ridiculous scenario. Of course it should be moved.

I'm getting sick of HQ making decisions that adversely affect us, and other counties.

lowerormond, it doesn't matter that nobody complained months ago, its not an anti Tipp thing, its just crazy we have to go to some counties home pitch for an All-Ireland. Its very simply not fair. Does it mean if we play ye next year it'll be in Salthill? No.....this stinks.

thanks lower ormond I think Galway should be concentrating on the game not the venue. When I was hurling the pitch never won a match for us as the grass was the same colour and the measurements were the same in every stadium.

if a team cant play hurling in Thurles the cant play it anywhere as everyone knows Semple stadium is the best sod in the country.

Galway should have raised this issue months ago when the decision was made. Tipp won the minor title 3 years ago so it's not as if their appearance in this final is a surprise. At this stage Galway should just get on with it because the venue will not be changed and if they continue to complain, it will just be a big distraction for the players.

I agree with the Tipp Boys but to be fair it is ridiculous that a final has to be played under lights. They should of also picked a venue that none of the strong hurling counties are from. In fairness Tipp would always have a chance of reaching the final. Venue is fixed now though so get on wit it

There should not be a home game for an All Ireland Final. The top brass in the GAA will continue to walk on counties until they do something. They should not turn up for the final and see what the reaction will be. Let Tipp have it. And other counties should follow suit; these are young amateur players who should get a neutral venue. I wonder would Tipp go to Pearse Stadium and play it there. I think not!!

Abhainn if Dublin get to an all ireland hurling and football final should all the other counties object to Croke Park get a grip my man Tipp are going to hammer ye wherever its on If ye cant hurl in Thurles well then ye just cant hurl cos every other county loves playing there. Do you want us to play ye in a Galway pitch no problem wel agree.

Yes Marnell Tipp would go to Pearse stadium it would be the same hammering Galway will get anyway!
I think all Irelands should be in Thurles like the 1984 one as Thurles is the home of hurling . should we all object so to Croke Park id Dublin get to a final ??? answere that one!! The Galway excuses are coming out already

And thurlesblues.....this has nothing to do with the issue....but the measurements are not the same in every stadium! Seeing as you were apparently an intercounty hurler I'm surprised you don't know this!!

Things are sad for Galway when they are starting to blame the best pitch in the country already what a shower of woosies!!

what would Galway do if they had a home and away arrangement like the "big two" in Munster Tipp and Cork. These two giants dont be making excuses over the pitch now do they? grasp at straws Galway grasp at straws!!!
