A lad not used to drinking Bulmers decided to erect a flag up a post , something's never change especially up North.

Apparently our lads were set upon by the Garda, totally unprovoked.

Well, that's the story up here.

The Garda objected to a lousy flag.

A good opportunity for the lads that didn't play against Fingal to get a run out. I thought that we should of won the game so in that sense its frustrating to have drawn. Greene did well enough up front and Cretaro took his goal well. A good shift.

Glentoran captain (can't think of his name) went over badly on his ankle in the second half and I think there ended up being about 10 minutes of injury time at the end! In injury time I felt that we should have had a pen but these things happen.

no contentious flags are allowed at setanta games and rightly so. Idiots getting the club fined and making the real supporters look bad. I wasn't there but was in Dublin coincidently. Glens captain is Paul Leeman and I think he did his knee. Shame to go out at this stage after making the final last year.

But patrique had stated in a different thread a while back that Linfield were the bigoted club and the Glens wernt.

I always believed that both were bigoted as are most N.Irish clubs and the Glens proved my thoughts the other night.

Why are Glentoran not allowed to unfurl their country's flag? I don't see a problem with it. If Boh fans were set upon by the PSNI for taking out a tricolour at the Oval everyone would be in uproar and rightly so. It works both ways

plastic paddy, if you look you will certainly find bigots at Irish league matches. I would not deny that. I should also say that if you look for bigots at GAA club/inter county games you will find them there too. Sad reflection of the community but its the truth.

The Game in dalymount ended with both teams at a goal each, Perhaps you can figure out the winner yourself.

As for the other 2 teams you refer to, all the results should be in next weeks Beano

Im not in a position to comment on whether the LoI has bigots, but i'll take your word for it.

I was just pointing out that patrique, in a different thread a few months ago, said that linfield were the only bigoted team from The Big Two(Linfield and Glentoran). I always believed that they were both as bad as each other and, what happened the other day proves my point, that both the Big Two have bigotted fans.

Don't be in any doubt that Glens fans are NOT as bigoted as Linfield, they most certainly are. Other clubs have some really nasty fans like Portadown, Glenavon, Coleraine, Crusaders and Ballymena. The Reds have a few headbangers who latch on the big games but Irish League football is still largely run by, and for, the Unionist community. Some of the Unionist media coverage up here today has been laughable but predictable. It's along the lines of "The poor wee angelic Glens folk battered by the big bad Garda thugs".

Can't help but think that becuase Glentoran are a 'Protestant' club they're coming in for the abuse here. You can't compare them to Linfield, the Glens have always been much more open-minded and welcoming than Linfield. Glentoran were always called the Catholic lovers by Linfield fans because they saw nothing wrong with playing Catholics, indeed some of their best players in the past have been and currently are. Just because they're from a Unionist area and therefore largely have a Protestant fanbase does not make them sectarian. If they had the same ideals as Linfield the fierce rivalry between the two would not exist

I've been to away games at Linfield and Glentoran and I have to say that I felt more welcomed at Glentoran than Linfield.

I've been to quite a few Glens/Reds games and can assure you that Glentoran has quite a bigoted rabid Loyalist element amongst it's support that is indeed as bad as Linfield's. I accept that as a club they were probably more welcoming to Catholic players before Linfield wised up but let's not pretend that the Glens are somehow beyond reproach.

So one fan makes the Glens bigoted?

Just like Tyrone then, judging by these boards?

Super bigots: Linfield, Coleraine, Portadown, Cliftonville, Donegal celtic.

Middle Bigots: Glenavon,

Lower bigots: newry, glentoran, Distillery.

In short all clubs have some bigots, just like every GAA county and club. A fact of life up here.

But some are a lot worse than others.

Well one supporter must make a club bigoted then.
