Cork supporters to be stopped travelling up on AI

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

A militant convoy by fed-up Croke Park residents will slow down or stop traffic on the main Cork to Dublin road on the morning of the AI football fina, Cork and not Down are being picked on because Cooney the head of the GAA and also a Cork man won't listen to the residents about their objections at losing their community centre at the back of Croke Park. The GAA are developing the site as a handball arena.

While you got to admire the communitie's determination and fighting spirit, I think its a shame that the Cork supporteres are targetted and also on AI day. Cooney is still going to have the tickets sales, its only the Cork supporters that will have the added stress. My advice is come up the night before Cork people and make a weekend of it.....thats what we always do in Kerry!!!

I doubt they can stop up a motorway as i'm sure they would be arrested, also you can't slow up a main road full of traffic as you can be done for obstruction. All this will do is annoy a few Cork Supporters. I often wondered would it have been better to have had Croke Park built in the middle of the country in a place where the locals would appreciate it and work with it.

The boss of the Croke Park residents association is a Tipperary man. As someone commented on Rebel GAA, he didn't consider holding his blockade last Sunday! It's a very petty attitude by the Croke Park residents, inconveniencing supporters who have nothing to do with their dispute, and spoiling the day for some of them.

Croke Park was there before any of those people were born and it's fair to assume that most, if not all of them, moved in there from the outside during that time. They knew what they were moving in beside, and to moan about it now is pathetic.

This is a disgraceful action, they are only going to spoil the day for Cork supporters. Is this going to affect the GAA presidents travel arrangements, I think not. This project is also reportedly going to provide a significant jobs boost to the area.

Ehhh, has nobody considered this option:......"DRIVE AROUND THEM!!!"

(Yes, right or wrong, you do have to admire their spirit!....and country folk dont believe community spirit exists in Dublin!!! Before people get on their high horse about the locals you will do well to remember that the law enshrines the right of the individual to enjoy their property in peace and comfort. Furthermore, the houses on Clonliffe Rd etc, have been there long before Croker became a monster!).

I beg to differ. Jealousy and bitter sniping is good for the soul. I might watch the game on tele, or i might just pick up one of the many tickets yis send back...

Hilarious that they target the Cork road because Christy Cooney is from Cork. In other words Cork people who have absolutely nothing to do with the guy, are targets of a protest aimed at him. Ridiculous logic. They might as well target Mayo men. Cork is a big county. Most of us don't know him. .

Unless of course youre a Dublin taxi driver who can do that whenever they like........

Its a joke though, as mentioned above is funny how they didnt oppose the Ham Sandwich Brigade attending the hurling final
