Jack McCaffrey training for the Ireland International Rules squad

Jack McCaffrey is looking forward to hitting the road with the Dubs for the first time in the championship.

The Footballer of the Year has played all of his championship football in Croke Park, but that will change next summer when Dublin travel outside the capital for the first time in 10 years to face either Laois or Wicklow in their opening Leinster SFC defence at Nowlan Park.

"I have been involved with the Dubs probably for a few years now and I've never gone on the road for a championship match," he told the Irish Daily Star at yesterday's launch of the Opel GAA/GPA All Stars jersey in support of the Childhood Cancer Foundation.

"But I've really enjoyed some of our league games, like down in Castlebar or Killarney - even though we were beaten in the lashings of rain - but they are good craic when you get to go away together.

"Obviously, it will be a championship game next summer, it will be a tough game that we will have to go out to win, but we're just looking forward to it. We'll play wherever we are asked to play."
