Ger Brennan is set to announce his inter-county retirement.

The Herald is reporting that the two-time All-Ireland winning Dublin centre back will call it a day due to ongoing injury problems. An Achilles heel injury forced Brennan to sit out the last two seasons. Indeed, his last appearance for the Dubs was against Mayo in the 2013 All-Ireland final.

The 30-year-old, who returned to competitive action on Saturday when he helped St. Vincent's to a Dublin SFC second round victory over Ballymun Kickhams, made his Dublin senior championship debut as a sub in the 2007 Leinster final against Laois and soon made the number six jersey his own.

A devout Catholic, Brennan made worldwide headlines when he thanked the "girlfriends and boyfriends of the players" in his acceptance speech after captaining St. Vincent's to last year's All-Ireland club title.
