Bernard Brogan has given the thumbs up to the addition of Jason Sherlock to the Dublin backroom team.

1995 All-Ireland hero Sherlock has been brought on board by Jim Gavin to act as forwards coach and sharpshooter Brogan believes he can make a big impact.

"He's going to be a massive influence," Bernard said to independent.ie.

"I would have always tapped into Jason even when he wasn't involved. He's a club-mate of mine and when I started he would have been a fella I would have looked up to and came to for advice so it's just great that I have more access to him now and I can talk to him on a daily basis.

"He is coming in as forwards coach so I can work with him a lot. He's going to be a massive benefit to us, to me anyway and I know the younger lads who might not know him as well will get great benefit out of him. I'm looking forward to working with him."

As regards his older brother Alan's intentions for 2015, Bernard is keeping his fingers crossed that he will commit to the sky blue jersey for another year.

2011 Footballer of the Year Alan is due to make a decision on his future in the coming weeks.

"We're trying our best to persuade him. He knows what our feelings are at this stage.

"He has another baby on the way and has a young kid so he has his own commitments. I think he will make a decision with Lydia and sit down in the next while and talk with Jim and see what the best thing is for themselves.

"We're all hoping he will give it another lash. He was unbelievable again this year again and there is loads he can offer.

"You'd love to see him out there for one more year."
