Ollie Baker singled out Kilmacud Crokes captain Seanie McGrath for special praise after his scoring exploits helped the Dublin champions to a Leinster club SHC extra-time victory over Rathdowney-Errill.

The full forward posted 0-15, 0-14 of which came from placed balls, as Crokes progressed to a semi-final against the Kilkenny champions (Clara or Ballyhale Shamrocks) with the minimum to spare.

"Seanie was excellent again," the Crokes manager is quoted in the Irish Daily Star.

"He stepped up in the county final and stepped up again today. That was the most significant thing for us, that he kept us in touch and that he kept the scoring momentum going in our direction.

"You need all those scores to win matches and it's the big players that step up on the big days to take them."

A disappointed Rathdowney-Erill manager Conor Gleeson, who played against Baker in the 1997 All-Ireland final between Tipperary and Clare, said: "We tried everything, we did what we could, but we still just came up a bit short.

"Their free-taker was fantastic. I think he missed just one so all credit to him."
