Dubs could appoint Cunningham tonight

October 06, 2014

Cork manager Jimmy Barry Murphy and selector Ger Cunningham

Ger Cunningham could be ratified as Dublin's new hurling manager as early as tonight.

The legendary Cork goalkeeper is the hot favourite to succeed Anthony Daly, who stepped down after six years at the helm. Liam Sheedy, John Allen, Nicky English, Shay Boland and Donal Og Cusack have also been mentioned as possible candidates, but the Irish Examiner reports that it's believed the selection committee will recommend Cunningham for the role.

Cunningham was a selector with Cork when they lost last year's All-Ireland final to Clare after a replay.
