Michael Dara Macauley's 40th minute goal sowed the seeds for Dublin's amazing comeback against Cork today.

Jim Gavin's side trailed by 10 points early in the second half but ended up winning by seven and, speaking to TG4 shortly after the final whistle, the Footballer of the Year remarked: "It was a mad game, you wouldn't be able to write that script.

"We never dropped the heads, we never gave up and came back strong in the second half. The lads really put it in for each other right up until the final whistle and I'm very proud of that performance.

"I don't score too many of them (goals) so I'm just happy to hit the back of the net at any time. It started a bit of a roll for us and we got it going.

"It was a special second half and if we can play like that for the rest of the year we'll be happy."

Macauley added: "There's not a chance we'll will an All-Ireland playing like that in the first half. There's a lot of talking points that we can go back on and look at as a team.

"There's a lot to improve on but, look, we're going to take the positives out of it as well. It was a good performance and we can go home with a smile on our face."
