Dublin manager Jim Gavin has refuted suggestions that his side took a cynical approach to yesterday's victory over Tyrone.

The All-Ireland champions amassed eight yellow cards and a red for Rory O'Carroll in the second half as they clung on for a one-point win after leading by nine at one stage in the first half.

"I would question anybody who would say that Dublin are a cynical team, which is what you are doing," Gavin said.

"I certainly think we try to play the right way. Sometimes you get it right, sometimes you don't. I think today that both teams went hard at it and I think the game was played in the right spirit.

"I think there was great passion in the game, Marty Duffy (referee) controlled it well. A lot of people say that physicality has gone out of the game, but anyone who was at the game today can beg to differ."
