Rising Derry football star Conor Glass is on the verge of signing for Aussie Rules outfit Hawthorn.

Glass, who captained the Oak Leaf minor team that lost yesterday's All-Ireland semi-final to Kerry, has been monitored by the Hawks for the past few years, but is only now old enough to join the club as an International Category B rookie.

Glass, who has had two training stints with Hawthorn already this year, is regarded as one of Gaelic football's brightest prospects. The Watty Graham's clubman was at his brilliant best when scoring seven points in Derry's Ulster semi-final victory over a fancied Donegal side earlier this summer.

The AFL website is also reporting that the Hawks are pursuing Meath minor Conor Nash, who is also a talented rugby player.
