Derry full forward Cailean O'Boyle believes that there are many positives to take from their campaign.

The Oakleafers season drew to a close last weekend when Galway defeated them in the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers.

The day only got worse for the Ulster side as Brian McIver announced his resignation immediately after the match.

However, O'Boyle was keen to point out to the County Derry Post that going forward there was plenty to take from this year's campaign.

"There is progress. It is quite a young team there and the experienced members are vitally important too," said O'Boyle.

"It has been a disappointing year, but a good year as well if you're being optimistic."
