Derry manager Brian McIver admits that they cannot afford any more injuries ahead of their Ulster SFC clash against Down.

The Oak Leaf County have a lengthy injury list ahead of the provincial opener as Mark Craig, Emmett Bradley, Patsy Bradley, PJ McCloskey and Eoin Bradley are all currently on the treatment table.

There is a round of club games down for decision next weekend and McIver will be hoping that all the county players come through unscathed.

"We cannot afford to be picking up anymore injuries," McIver told the County Derry Post. "It's no time at all now until the championship.

"We'll certainly arrange one more challenge game anyway and a few in house games but the big priority at the minute is getting club games that are on next weekend over."
