Relegated Derry closed their Division One campaign with a fine 2-15 to 1-11 victory over Cork at Owenbeg.

Enda Lynn (2-3) hit both majors for the winners in the second half as they took complete control of proceedings.

This match was effectively a dead rubber as the Leesiders were already assured of a place in the semi-finals while the hosts had already been relegated, but the long-overdue victory will give Brian McIver's men confidence heading into the championship.

The Rebels led by 1-7 to 0-7 at the break with Stephen O'Donoghue netting early on while late points from Lynn and Benny Heron ('45') just about kept the Derry men in touch.

A brilliant Lynn goal saw the northerners move ahead and Niall Holly's point made it 1-12 to 1-9 with 13 minutes left. When Lynn fisted to the net on the hour the match was over as a contest.
