Conleith Gilligan is chasing county championship glory on two fronts.

The former Oak Leaf forward will move a step closer to securing his fifth Derry SFC medal if his club Ballinderry can overcome Lavey in tomorrow night's quarter-final against Lavey in Owenbeg. Gilligan is also manager of Derrytresk who defeated Castlederg last weekend to qualify for the Tyrone JFC final against Rock.

"Castlederg were very tenacious," he tells the Belfast Telegraph.

"They made us work hard but we got over the line in the end. Now we have a big game in the final and it would be great if Derrytresk could win this because of the hard work undertaken by so many people within the club."

He added: "There are times when I am not there because of my commitments with Ballinderry, but there are a lot of very capable people who can call the shots."
