London Junior Championship

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Groups announced off HS. A seeded Draw by the looks of it.

Junior Championship

Group 1 - St Anthonys - Cuchullains - Robert Emmetts - Eire Og

Group 2 - Thomas McCurtains - Dulwich Harps - Tir Chonaill Gaels - Bros Pearses

St Anthonys and Cuchullains from Group 1 and TMC and Dulwich from Group 2 has my money.
This will be the tightest Junior comp ive seen in a long time with nothing really seperating these teams. Dulwich always start the season strong. Anthonys a steady and strong bunch proved that last year and were able to beat the Joes and CC in cup finals. CC always in the mix at the business end of championship. TCM will benifit form Inter league games

I.ll stick my neck out and say "the Anthonys for Junior 2012"

Feel free to disagree

I would say it will be an Anthony's v CuChulainns final, hard to call the winners between those two

Although saying that it is only April and very early to be making any predictions!

far to early, i mean Dulwhich were beaten by TCG at the weekend but again these games are not really anything to go by! i know the pearses have a whole new squad so hard to see how they will fair up untill they get a run of games under their belts!

I'd say Group one is nearly nailed on even at this stage in April. Anthony's and Cuchullains will top the group although I'm not sure in which order. Emmetts and Eire Og will have to pick up some serious players if they are going to catch them two.

Group two is a little bit more open. You'd expect TMacs to be the strongest with Dulwich the next best. However, it was mentioned above that TCG beat Dulwich at the weekend so perhaps they might be stronger than I am giving them credit for. Pearses are pretty much all new lads so, as usual, hard to know what they'll be at next week, never mind in 2 months time!!

I seen that result alright. TCG did make the semi's last year too so cant write them off either.
TMC were in junior a few years back and went straight up that year. Will be interesting to see them in action this year.
Definately a tight fought contest at semi final stage. Im looking forward to this season in junior

Cuchullains will be far too strong for every other Junior team this year and will win the grade at some what of a canter unfortunately!

TMC I hear are under new management with Keiran Mc Keever now in charge, With several new members and aparently good training numbers I will be very surprised if they are not there or there abouts, be interesting to see who wins this weekend between them and St.Anthonys who also look quite strong, Only three teams can win this championship, the two above and possibly cuchullains.

I think St Anthony's, Dulwich, Cuchulainns and TMacs will be the 4 teams contesting the semi-finals. I reckon Cuchulainns will take the title though.

Cuchullainns and McCurtains fought out a good hard game in terrible conditions on Sat. Cuchullinns coming away with a one point win. McCurtains had more possession but were wasteful. Cuchullainns much more efficent with the ball, good passing moves up the field and much better kicking in front of goal. Ref let a lot go on both sides, not dirty but should have been a lot more frees in the game.

Cuchulainns Abu, A big thank you to the referee who decided not to turn up on sunday morning. It would have been great if he had let us all know as there were a lot of fresh faces in greenford mad for a game. Lesson learnt never stay dry for a league game again.

Was the Cuchullains game played yesterday?

Both teams were lined up on the pitch and ready for road.

We warmed up for about 40 minutes

Cu's wanted to play the game and offered to toss a coin to decide which team would provide a ref but the under strength Moindearg lads wouldn't agree to this so no game was played.

It was a bit of a downer as the majority of the team managed to watch the CL final Heinicken cup final the voice and the palyoffs while full to the gills with Lucozade

No beer involved :(

Well, not a good situation obviously but I'm afraid Moindearg might find themselves losing that game now. By rule they are to toss a coin or agree otherwise on a referee and then play the match anyway. I'm sure Moindearg are aware of this rule. Bad way to lose points but they'd have been better off playing it in some fashion. I think there is a fine for teams not fielding also!!

Junior football has been a bit farcical so far this year or is it just me? There are only three teams who can win the Junior championship... Cu Chulainns, St Anthonys and Mc Curtins. Even enough between these 3. St Antonys slightly edging it for me at the moment. Long way to go yet though

I think saying it's a bit farcical is a bit too much. It's still very early days and I expect many of the teams, especially at this level, to be still finding their feet.

Group One is definitely, however, the more lop-sided side of the draw. Realistically, that group will come down to the game between Anthony's and Cuchullains to who will get top spot and therefore be up against the team who finishes second in Group 2 who is likely to be one of the three between Dulwich, TCG and the Pearses. Dulwich have started slow with defeats including one against TCG which is interesting enough. Pearses haven't played either of these teams in competition. Their game have been Emmetts (win) and losses against Anthony's and North London. TCG were narrowly beaten by NLS last week and were down to 14 men too according to the NLS report.

I'd still expect McCurtains to win group 2 as they will be quite strong but as to who will finish second. Still open I think but semi-final will be a big ask against the winners from Group 1!!
