A hamstring injury is threatening Conor McGrath's participation in Clare's Munster SHC opener against Limerick on Sunday week.

The Cratloe attacker has been troubled by the injury since retiring in the first half of the Banner's Allianz League relegation loss to Kilkenny at the end of March and, according to the Irish Examiner, missed a behind-closed-doors challenge against Galway at Cusack Park on Tuesday evening.

Clare can ill-afford to be without McGrath following the loss of his club-mate Podge Collins to the county footballers and Colm Galvin's recent departure to Boston.

Corner back Cian Dillon is also facing a race against time to be fit for the eagerly-awaited Gaelic Grounds showdown due to an Achilles problem.
