Clare manager Davy Fitzgerald admits that beating Tipperary is a must in their next NHL Division 1A clash.

The banner have lost their two opening matches in the league and a third defeat to Tipperary would leave them perilously close to relegation with two games remaining.

Fitzgerald knows that the second half performance against Cork was poor and he stressed to the Clare Champion that a huge improvement was needed next week.

"If we don't win the Tipp game, we are to be fighting relegation and that's the bottom line. We know that," said Fitzgerald. "It's going to be a massive game in Ennis."

Fitzgerald added that they could have two of their injured players return to the fold in the next week.

"With regard to Davy Mac (McInerney) and Tony Kelly, we will know at the end of the week what the story is. If they are right, they will probably play Fitzgibbon Cup and if they are not then hopefully they will be back with us the following week.
